Honed Quartzite

Honed quartzite is a metamorphic rock that has a smooth, matte surface and is often used for countertops and backsplashes.  It has a more natural, organic look than polished quartzite.  The honing process removes the shine of natural stones and creates a consistent, grainy appearance.  Honed quartzite is heat resistant and durable, making it a good choice for high-traffic areas. It’s less likely to show scratches or imperfections than other surfaces.   It does require more frequent cleaning than polished quartzite to prevent staining, and may have to be sealed over time.
